Boron

Boron is a powerful glaze flux commonly added in the form of borates, such as Gerstley borate or frits. It lowers melting temperature, encourages smooth glaze flow, and helps glazes mature fully at low and midrange firing temperatures. Boron is also an essential ingredient in many bright, stable low-fire ceramic glazes.
