Underglazes have a large firing range typically from cone 06-10 (but check which brand you’re using for exact firing temperature options) and are used to create deigns and patterns. They are typically applied to greenware or bisque surface and covered with a transparent glaze.

Overglazes refer to a group of lusters and metallics applied to a previously glazed and fired surface. When fired, yield the brilliance of gold metallic, white gold metallic, and a rainbow of luster hues, like that of a pearl.
