This stilt is designed to be used exclusively in low fire glaze (cone 04-06) firings, when the piece is completely covered in glaze. The stilt’s purpose is to hold the piece off the shelf, so the glaze does not glue the piece to the shelf when it melts. Using High Fire Stilts when firing stoneware or porcelain may cause the piece to deform.

-Choose a stilt, or combine several stilts, if necessary, large enough to evenly support and balance the piece.
-Stilts will leave marks in the fired glaze. The marks’ edges may be sharp and should be sanded down.
-Keep the stilts’ points clean and sharp to minimize marks.
