Can I put found objects/glass in clay pieces and have it fired at Georgie’s?

We do not fire glass/ found objects in clay pieces at Georige’s but you CAN do it in your own kiln

Can I put 100 beads on 1 bead bar and have it fired at Georgie’s?

No. bead bars can only hold so much weight and not sag in the heat of a firing. If a bead bar is over-stuffed with beads it will typically result in beads getting stuck to shelves and bead racks. In addition to successfully firing a bead bar: SECURELY wrap wire to hang beads, do not glaze the inside of beads and cookie cutter shapes (these are typically too big/heavy for bead wires and bead racks)

Can I underglaze the bottoms of pieces?

Yes, and you can use interactive pigments on the bottoms of pieces but test first because some can flux just enough to stick or create tiny chips on feet. Please note that we do charge a scraping fee if your pieces do stick to the shelf. work and now that they’re bisqued, I can’t tell them apart! What do I do?

When can I drop off my piece for firing?

We accept drop offs anytime we’re open Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm.

HELP! I used low fire clay to make work and I used mid-range clay to make work and now that they’re bisqued, I can’t tell them apart! What do I do?

Yes, this is a problem and unfortunately there is no way to tell them apart. We recommend before firing in the future to make your makers slightly different or add an additional mark to distinguish different clay bodies at different temperatures. We will fire all unknown clay bodies to low fire ONLY.

How long until my pieces are ready if I drop them off today for custom firing?

Our average turnaround time is 7-10 business days (this count does not include days we are not open). Check our custom firing page for an up-to-date turnaround time.

Should I fire my lids on my pots?

Yes! Particularly if they are snug. This makes it more likely they will still fit after firing.

Do you offer rush services for custom firing?

We do not offer rush services. Everything is first come, first serve.

How should I bring my pieces to you to be fired?

Please bring work in a LIDDED box or container labeled clearly with your name and contact information. No loose work will be accepted or pieces not in a box. Whatever you bring your pieces in you will get back.

I have a lot of pieces, should I just bring those in?

If you have enough for a full kiln load, please call ahead to reserve a full kiln load.

Can I have you fire work to a special temperature or with a custom firing schedule?

Yes – you MUST reserve an entire kiln for this and provide specific instructions. We will not fire a custom firing with overglazes or lustres.
